Bellevue Mayor Kevin Strecker, left, and Michael K. Winthrop, President & CEO of The Bellevue Hospital, get set to draw the winners in the 2016 Is Your Heart Set on a Vette Corvette Raffle.

The Bellevue Hospital Foundation made President’s Day a memorable experience for Stephen Mihokovich of Austintown, OH, as his name was drawn as the grand prize winner in the 6thannual “Is Your Heart Set on a Vette” raffle. The winning ticket number was 0474.

Bellevue Mayor Kevin Strecker had the honor of drawing the winners out of the barrel containing all 1,553 tickets that were sold for the raffle.

As the grand prize winner, Mihokovich has his choice of a brand new 2016 Corvette or $50,053 in cash.
Four runner-up winners each received cash prizes, including Kurt Southam, Nashport, OH (ticket 1255), $2,000 cash; John Walker, Fremont, OH (ticket 0846), $1,500 cash; Dave Horstman, Cloverdale, OH (ticket 0173), $1,000 cash; and Linda VanDyke, Bellevue, OH (ticket 0422), $500 cash.

“We wish to congratulate Stephen and the other four winners,” said Michael K. Winthrop, President and CEO of The Bellevue Hospital (TBH). “We kicked-off this raffle in September of 2015 and our goal was to sell all 1,553 tickets at $100 each, a goal that we accomplished on December 28, 2015!”

Continued Winthrop, “For us, that made the raffle highly successful. It was important for us to sell and run this raffle in the right way and it was a great effort from our Foundation, Accounting Department, Marketing Department, and numerous volunteers.”

Tickets were sold to people in 43 different U.S. states and two provinces in Canada, noted Dennis Sabo, TBH Foundation Director. “I would like to personally thank Gary Steinle of Steinle Chevrolet-Buick in Clyde. They were the co-sponsor of this event. Also, thanks to Bill & Scott Brugnone at the Bellevue Beverage Center, the Fremont Steinle location, Tracy Hogue and Hogue’s IGA in Bellevue, the hospital Gift Shop staff, Craig Stahl and Lake Shore Graphics, and the Foundation Board members for all the support. We could not have accomplished this massive project without all their help.”

Sabo noted that all proceeds will benefit Foundation women’s and children’s projects, including the Women’s Mammography Fund, which will help supply screening mammograms for underinsured or uninsured women.
The 2017 Corvette Raffle will kick-off with Early Bird specials in September, 2016, and will be held in conjunction with the hospital’s 100th anniversary. The hospital opened its doors on March 6, 1917.
